Taking Responsibility for Your Dental Health

As a teenager, you have more responsibility and independence, such as choosing class electives for high school, getting a driver’s license, and a first job. Those new obligations also include your dental health and going to a dental health care provider.

  • Dental Health

Adolescence includes adapting to all of the changes in your body. However, an increased risk of gingivitis may be caused by hormonal shifts and is not something you want to adjust to. Your gums will be healthy again with good dental care in Las Vegas, Nevada, brushing, flossing, and avoiding sugars and carbohydrates.

  • Wisdom Teeth

Your wisdom teeth may appear during your adolescence. Our dentist in Nevada may discover them at one of your visits, or you may notice new teeth developing behind your molars unexpectedly. If there is room for your wisdom teeth and erupting normally, you may be fine.

However, wisdom teeth extraction may be necessary if there is no room, if you have pain or infection, or if they are causing harm to the teeth close to them.

  • Tobacco

Don’t start using tobacco products. If you already have, stop before it becomes even more addictive. Quitting smoking is one of the healthiest decisions you can make for your health, including your dental health. Smokers and other tobacco users had a considerably higher risk of oral cancer, severe gum disease, and early tooth loss.

Remember that keeping to your dental routine, two minutes of brushing twice, morning and night, and thorough flossing will keep your gums and dentures healthy throughout adolescence.
